END Zone Challenge

NCCASA Launches END Zone Challenge To End Child Sexual Abuse

Raleigh, NC- November 11, 2011- In the wake of the child molestation charges at Penn State, it is imperative that communities unite to combat against the epidemic of sexual violence in North Carolina and abroad. It's with this sentiment, the North Carolina Coalition Against Sexual Assault (NCCASA) a nonprofit that serves as a statewide alliance working to end sexual violence through education, advocacy and legislation, issues the "END Zone Challenge” to individuals, organizations, and community leaders.  The "END Zone" represents a collective, community, coordinated, holistic, NO TOLERANCE or" SIDELINE" response to child sexual abuse. The challenge is an effort to raise awareness and support for sexual assault survivors and NCCASA's youth outreach work. NCCASA extends the END ZONE to you by challenging you to take a stand. The North Carolina Coalition Against Sexual Assault (NCCASA) is super excited to launch its social enterprise venture, a cutting edge t-shirt line SOCIAL JUSTEES!

What is SOCIAL JUSTEES? In the wake of the economic downturn, nonprofits organizations have been challenged to re-think how to fiscally sustain their missions and work. Long gone are the days of sole reliance on government dollars and cheerful givers. However, this shift sparked an innovative cord with NCCASA and served as a catalyst  for ideas that channeled for profit practices, embodied branding, tapped into consumer habits, coupled with social responsibility; thereby the creation of  SOCIAL JUSTEES. A conscious and couture t-shirt line, SOCIAL JUSTEES are t-shirts that encourage equality and empowerment. The line's design framework is simple: use emerging trends and simple concepts to raise awareness about social justice issues.

The super cool “Code Teal” shirt allows you to scan the QR Code and go directly to NCCASA’s website to learn more about our work and shop at the SOCIAL JUSTEES Boutique. SOCIAL JUSTEES will be on sale ($20) and display at the National Sexual Assault Conference at the National Alliance Ending Sexual Violence (NASEV) exhibit table on the second floor.

1 is 2 Many

Despite the significant progress made in reducing violence against women, there is still a long way to go. Young women still face the highest rates of dating violence and sexual assault. In the last year, one in 10 teens have reported being physically hurt on purpose by a boyfriend or girlfriend. One in five young women have been sexually assaulted while they’re in college.

In response to these alarming statistics, Vice President Biden is focusing his longstanding commitment to reducing violence against women specifically on teens and young women ages 16-24. By targeting the importance of changing attitudes that lead to violence and educating the public on the realities of abuse, the Vice President is leading the way in an effort to stop violence against women before it begins.
